Aalborg University
is Professor for Human Machine Interaction at the Technical Faculty of IT and Design at Aalborg University, Denmark. He received his Diploma and Doctoral degrees (with honors) in 1998 and 2001 respectively from Bielefeld University in Germany. In 2008, he successfully completed his habilitation process in Informatics at the University of Augsburg in Germany. His research is focused on modeling social, affective and cultural aspects of everyday behavior for intuitive and human centered technology especially focusing on robots and multi-modal embodied interaction. He has over 140 peer reviewed publications in the area of robotics, smart learning, and human machine interaction. From 2015 to 2019 he was the vice president of ASLERD, the Association for Smart Learning Environments and Regional Development, since 2019 he is the coordinator of the multidisciplinary HRI lab at Aalborg University. Also in 2014, he co-founded an international startup that is actively pushing the limits in culture related learning technologies.
