Alaa S.A. Alkhafaji
is a Lecturer in Human Computer Interaction in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Mustansiriyah in Baghdad/Iraq. She completed her PhD in the School of Computing/ University of Portsmouth in Jun 2018. Her research interests are in the area of smart and ubiquitous systems to be used through mobile and wearable technologies as well as human-computer interaction design to incorporate users’ experience in designing new technologies to provide adaptive and user-friendly services.
Brian Bemman
is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Aalborg University (AAU), Denmark. His research interests include music information retrieval, computational creativity, combinatorial optimization, and constraint satisfaction. In addition to research, he teaches as part of the undergraduate and graduate programs in Media Technology at AAU.
Miriam Carlos-Mancilla
received the B.E. degree in computer systems from the University of Guadalajara, Guadalajara, Mexico in 2010 and both M.S. degree in electrical engineering and PhD. degree in electrical engineering from CINVESTAV Unidad Guadalajara, Mexico. Currenly, Miriam Carlos is an Associate Professor at Centro de Investigación, Innovación y Desarrollo Tecnológico at Universidad del Valle de México. Her research interest includes IoT, design and modelling of distributed systems, mobile multi-agent systems, tree formation and clustering techniques, self-organization adaptive algorithms for emergent behavior failure recovering and load balancing strategies and network architecture development.
Bianca Clavio Christensen
is a PhD student at the Department of Health Science and Technology at Aalborg University, Denmark. Her PhD studies design of gamified tools and data visualization to increase learning outcomes and remote rehabilitation (i.e. telerehabilitation) for patients with heart failure. She has a background in Media Technology and works with mapping user needs to development, programming and testing prototypes, from learning apps to games. She graduated as a Master of Science in 2017 from Aalborg University and has published research within smart learning ecosystems, technology-enhanced learning, and movement analysis in games.
Mihaela Cocea
is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing at the University of Portsmouth. Her research interests are in the area of Intelligent System to provide adaptation and personalisation, as well as decision support. She has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and serves as a reviewer for the EPSRC and the European Commission.
Sanaz Fallahkhair
is a Senior Lecturer in Human Computer Interaction at the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics. Her research interests are in the area of human centred design of new technologies that incorporate studies of user experiences, cognition and adaptation of novel intelligent systems delivered via multiple platforms: mobile, interactive television, tag-based and wearable technologies. She has worked several projects funded by the European Commission, JISC (Joint Information System Committee) and UK Department of Health.
Rikke Gade
is currently employed as Associate Professor at Aalborg University, Denmark. She received her M.Sc. and PhD degrees from Aalborg University in 2011 and 2015, respectively. During her studies she also spend a semester at University of Auckland, New Zealand, and had a 4 months research stay at University of Adelaide, Australia. Her research interests include computer vision analysis of human activities, applied both for analysis of human behaviour at public spaces as well as for analysing sports activities. She also works with robot vision. Rikke teaches courses on undergraduate level on basic programming and image processing, and on graduate level in Computer Vision.
Javier Alonso Gomez-Davila
is an Architect, with a Master Degree in Sustainable Urban Design, and a PhD in Architecture and Urban Affairs. Currently, he is a Research Professor at Centro de Investigación, Innovación y Desarrollo Tecnológico (CIIDETEC) at Universidad del Valle de México. His research interest has to do with urban justice and sustainability in Latin-American cities, specifically, issues related with public space, urban mobility, and other actions that help improve the quality of life in urban contexts, as well as, innovative pedagogical strategies in design and architecture-teaching environments.
Eka Jeladze
is a doctoral candidate of Information Society Technologies at the School of Digital Technologies, Tallinn University. Her research focuses on digital learning ecosystems, schools transition to digitally enhanced learning environment, organizational change and change management.
Hendrik Knoche
is an Associate Professor at the University of Aalborg (Denmark) in the Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology. He obtained a Diploma/master (U of Hamburg) and PhD (University College London) both in computer science. Before joining AAU he worked as a post-doc at the Media and Design Laboratory at EPFL in Switzerland. He has worked on interaction design and user experience both on desktop and mobile devices for more than ten years in industry and academia in various domains including games, mobile social networking, automated content adaptation, and perceived video and aesthetic quality. His current research focuses on how to motivate, empower, and educate patients in rehabilitation contexts especially in the home. He is interested in adaptive interfaces that model multi-modal usage and user data including e.g. physiological data and eye-tracking to this end. His larger research interests include human-centered design, mediated experiences, and ICT for inclusion and development along with methods for prototyping and evaluating applications and their user experiences in real life contexts.
Antonia Lina Krummheuer
s sociologist and received her Doctoral degree in 2008 at Klagenfurt University in Austria. Currently she is associate professor in Qualitative Methods and Technology Studies at Aalborg University in Denmark. Her research interest focuses on the analysis of social and embodied interaction in health care settings and the use and design of (interactive) technologies in and for interaction. Her work contributes to understanding concepts of agency, care and participation in interaction with people with special needs. Here she initiated two research networks to gather knowledge of participation and competences in interaction with young adults and adults with communicative and cognitive impairments. She is also interested in the redefinition of human-computer and human-robot interaction from a interactional and sociological perspective and is co-applicant of the project “Build your own robot” a co-creational project in which we design individual reminder and guiding robots for and with people with brain injury. She has published over 25 publications on these topics.

Kai Pata
has MA in Biology and Chemistry teaching, MSc in Science education from The University of Tartu, Estonia and PhD in Education from The Turku University, Finland. She is the professor of adult and informal education in Tallinn University, Estonia. Her research is on adult and informal education, citizen science and educational technology in different learning situations.
Matthias Rehm
is Professor for Human Machine Interaction at the Technical Faculty of IT and Design at Aalborg University, Denmark. He received his Diploma and Doctoral degrees (with honors) in 1998 and 2001 respectively from Bielefeld University in Germany. In 2008, he successfully completed his habilitation process in Informatics at the University of Augsburg in Germany. His research is focused on modeling social, affective and cultural aspects of everyday behavior for intuitive and human centered technology especially focusing on robots and multi-modal embodied interaction. He has over 140 peer reviewed publications in the area of robotics, smart learning, and human machine interaction. From 2015 to 2019 he was the vice president of ASLERD, the Association for Smart Learning Environments and Regional Development, since 2019 he is the coordinator of the multidisciplinary HRI lab at Aalborg University. Also in 2014, he co-founded an international startup that is actively pushing the limits in culture related learning technologies.
Terje Väljataga
is a Senior Researcher in the Centre of Excellence in Educational Innovation at Tallinn University (Estonia). Terje has been involved in various educational research and development projects both local and international since 2004. Currently she coordinates Horizon2020 project SEIS – Scaling up educational innovation in schools. Her research interests focus on integrated learning designs, orchestration and teacher support in outdoor mobile learning settings as well as students’ transformative experiences and science capital.
